KORNEEL BERNOLET (b. 1989) appears actively as a harpsichordist, music theorist and conductor.
At the age of 19, he made his international debut with La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken). From then onwards, he is regularly
invited as a soloist or continuo with a.o. Scherzi Musicali (Nicolas Achten), B’Rock and cantoLX (Frank Agsteribbe), Octopus (Bart
Van Reyn), the Mannheimer Hofkapelle (Florian Heyerick)... As a respected continuo player, he took part in several recordings for
radio, television and CD productions for the labels Klara, Musiq3, Mezzo, Accent, Ricercar, Alpha and Musique en Wallonie. As a
chamber musician, he performed with a.o. viola da gamba player Thomas Baeté, recorder trio Aquil’AlterA and soprano Anne
Cambier. Recently, he founded his own chamber music formation: Le Quatuor Parisien. So far, Korneel has appeared as a soloist or
an ensemble member in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy.
After completion of his piano training (with Paul Clement), Korneel annually received the highest honorific distinctions at the
Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (Artesis University College), where he studies harpsichord in the class of his principal mentor Ewald
Demeyere. During one year he took lessons in pianoforte, he plays the historical organ as an autodidact. Simultaneously, he
constantly refines his historical keyboard playing through masterclasses with eminent teachers and performers such as Gustav
Leonhardt, Menno van Delft, Jesper Bøje Christensen, Frédérick Haas and Erwan Le Prado at the Amsterdam Conservatory
(Holland), the Piccola Accademia di Montisi (Italy) and the Académie Baroque de Lanvellec (France); in particular the insights of
Christophe Rousset are of great influence on his playing. Korneel’s musicianship is characterized by the combination of a refined
and expressive toucher with a rational musical approach. As a trained music theorist, the consequent application of historical
performance practice is of essential value.
Besides teaching the harpsichord at the music academies of Veurne and Aalst, Korneel is titular organist at St. Peter’s Church in
Koksijde. As principal conductor of choir Vagantes Morborum in Bruges, he is being taught by Luc Anthonis and Geert Hendrix. He
took part in orchestral conducting masterclasses with Daan Admiraal and Georg Grün. Korneel has been in charge as a conductor or
assistent-director with a.o. the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, dance- and opera productions at the Antwerp conservatory, Helicon
chamber choir, baroque orchestra B’Rock and The Ghent Baroque Players. As a composition student in the class of Wim Henderickx,
he was awarded in several international composition competitions, his work being played in concert in the Benelux, Japan and the
United States of America. In March 2008, he won a first prize at the ‘Dexia Classics’ competition; in November 2010, he was
awarded the first ‘ARTos Muziekprijs’ for special artistic achievements.

KORNEEL BERNOLET (*1989) profileert zich als klavecinist, muziektheoreticus en dirigent.
Op 19-jarige leeftijd maakte hij zijn internationaal debuut bij La Petite Bande (Sigiswald Kuijken), sindsdien concerteert hij ook
regelmatig als solist of continuospeler bij onder meer Scherzi Musicali (Nicolas Achten), B’Rock en cantoLX (Frank Agsteribbe),
Octopus (Bart Van Reyn), de Mannheimer Hofkapelle (Florian Heyerick)... Als gerespecteerd continuïst realiseerde hij
verscheidene radio-, tv- en cd-opnames met bovengenoemde ensembles voor de labels Klara, Musiq3, Mezzo, Accent, Ricercar,
Alpha en Musique en Wallonie. Als kamermusicus trad hij op met o.a. gambist Thomas Baeté, blokfluittrio Aquil'AlterA en sopraan
Anne Cambier; recent richtte hij zijn eigen kamermuziekformatie Le Quatuor Parisien op. Korneel was tot dusver te gast als solist
of ensemblespeler in België, Nederland, Luxemburg, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Groot-Britannië en Italië.
Na zijn pianostudies (bij Paul Clement) behaalde Korneel jaar na jaar de hoogste onderscheidingen aan het Koninklijk
Conservatorium van Antwerpen (Artesis Hogeschool), waar hij klavecimbel studeert in de klas van zijn mentor Ewald Demeyere.
Gedurende een jaar legde hij zich toe op de pianoforte, als autodidact bespeelt hij het orgel. Simultaan met zijn opleiding
schoolt hij zich bij in het historisch klavierspel aan het conservatorium van Amsterdam (NL), de Piccola Accademia di Montisi (I) en
de Académie Baroque de Lanvellec (F) bij eminente pedagogen en vertolkers waaronder Gustav Leonhardt, Menno van Delft,
Jesper Bøje Christensen, Frédérick Haas en Erwan Le Prado; met name de inzichten van Christophe Rousset oefenen een grote
invloed uit op zijn musiceren. Het klavierspel van Korneel wordt gekenmerkt door het samengaan van een verfijnd en expressief
toucher met een rationele vertolking. Als geschoolde muziektheoreticus draagt hij een consequente toepassing van de historische
uitvoeringspraxis hoog in het vaandel.
Korneel is organist-titularis aan de Sint-Pieterskerk te Koksijde en leerkracht klavecimbel aan de academies van Veurne en Aalst.
Hij studeert directie bij Luc Anthonis en Geert Hendrix; in die hoedanigheid is hij sinds januari 2011 dirigent van het vermaarde
Brugse koor Vagantes Morborum. Hij volgde masterclasses orkestdirectie bij Daan Admiraal en Georg Grün, en fungeerde als
dirigent of assistent-dirigent bij onder meer het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, dans- en operaproducties aan het conservatorium
van Antwerpen, kamerkoor Helicon, barokorkest B’Rock en The Ghent Baroque Players. Als student in de klas van Wim Henderickx
werd Korneel als componist meermaals internationaal bekroond: zijn werken werden gespeeld op concertpodia gaande van de
Benelux tot Japan en de Verenigde Staten van Amerika. In maart 2008 ontving hij een eerste prijs tijdens de ‘Dexia Classics’
wedstrijd; in november 2010 werd hem in Antwerpen de eerste ‘ARTos Muziekprijs’ toegekend voor bijzondere artistieke
verdiensten.
